As the first daughter growing up in a Nigerian home, it was on me to rally my siblings for house chores

I have two younger brothers and a sister. Getting my sister to her own chore was easy. The issue was with my brothers

As per big sis nau, I would do what we normally do which is shout and command

Sometimes I would even have to cry. These boys would not budge o

Either they wanted to do it at their own time, they would sha just be giving me headache and it would pain me so bad.

When I go and report them to my mum, she would just say “leave them to me”

My mum would then call my brothers and say “Adanu”. This means father in my language by the way.

She would rub their heads and say “these windows are dirty nau, you people should help us and clean it. You know you people are taller and you can do it very well. As you people are doing it I will be frying puff puff so you can eat when you’re done”

Children of God, the same work that I have been shouting and crying for these boys to boy, my mum just be talking softly will get them to do it and even more

It took me some time to get the gist .

By the time I got the gist, I did not need to shout . I could get by brothers to do anything for me just by the way I spoke to them.

My mum taught me one of the biggest lessons that I carried to marriage.

A soft feminine woman can get a man to do anything.

Men respond to combat with even more combat

God made them like that so they can be protectors

And he gave women our own power to tame them too.

He gave us softness. He gave us femininity. He gave us emotional intelligence. He gave us sweet mouth.

A feminine woman with softness and submission is the one actually in charge. (No loud am)
