The new Android Studio (Flamingo+) network inspector with request rewrite rules is soooooo nice. No more Charles, Proxyman or complex solutions to quick test a change in the response, full body or error code. #AndroidStudio#AndroidDev
You can approximate the impact of baseline profiles by installing your app & speed compiling it (full aot):
adb shell cmd package compile -f -m speed https://t.co/iuNTF4MmC5
Measure this and remove the time it took to load the odex files.
Let's talk about Android Baseline Profiles!
Android team is pushing hard for their adoption. GMaps startup had 40% perf improvements, why isn't everybody jumping on that?!
Reality is a bit more complex...

Legacy code is a social construct.
Code doesn't age. People, circumstances & expectations around it change.
Codebases tend to become harder to maintain as they go through changes. But we also often decide that yesterday's hotness is today's legacy (for good & bad reasons).
Someone who codes 1 hour a day for 5 years and someone who codes 5h a day for 1 year both have the same experience.
Experience should be measured in what you can build, which mistakes you've learnt from and what you know, not in how long you do something.
If you want to see example of using Kotlin 1.7.20 in a #KMM project (with new Kotlin Native memory model enabled now by default), have pushed following to branch of Confetti sample (using pre-release version of Compose compiler dependency for now)

@dbaroncellimob AAC ViewModel is a kludge for Android, I see no reason to proliferate bad patterns. If you have a properly designed data layer, you'll realize you have no use for an AAC ViewModel.

"I agree, but the whole project is done like that" - This is something I hear every now and then.
You are there to improve the situation, not to maintain the status quo.
If you see a clear improvement - go for it. You don't have to fix the whole project at once.
