MUST WATCH! There are other forums in which decisions are made in dark rooms, where nothing happen transparently. But everything @WHO does is on the table. Everything we do is out there for criticism. We serve. That's how we build trust. @DrMikeRyan@WorldHealthSmt#WHS2022
@WHO I was hoping the world would be in a different situation as 2021 ends, but we are where we are.
It’s worth reflecting on how/why we have not used #covid19 vaccines to their full potential this year. I tried to do that in this piece:

One month ago, I wrote a first thread on #omicron (before it was called that) and I said we needed patience and we would learn a lot more.
So where are we today? A quick #omicron thread before I sign off for a few days:

The person whose story on A1 of NYT on Feb 3 warned of a likely pandemic says bluntly the response was the president’s fault, not the Chinese. Also described the US as a “headless chicken” for those two months.
@WHO@DrTedros The massive efforts in China have bought us time. But we should be using that time to prepare and that includes preparing the world by communicating what is happening, what is likely to happen and what the response might look like. That is the “window of opportunity” we have now.
International Classification of Diseases, or ICD, is a common language used all over the 🌍 by
👩🏾⚕️👨🏻⚕️ doctors, nurses, clinical coders
👩🏻⚖️👨🏾⚖️ governments
👩🏾🔬👨🏾🔬 researchers
and many others
to classify diseases and conditions so they have the best possible pictures of everyone’s health
Better understanding life & death and everything in between is challenging. The #whofic2019 network is explaining and coding through #ICD11@WHO . You want to understand #ICD11 ?

Danke schön Minister @jensspahn, for 🇩🇪's full support of @WHO's transformation agenda to deliver #HealthForAll. We are grateful for your generous voluntary contributions announced today at #WHA72: € 55 m for 2019 to 2022 & an additional US$ 10 m for the #Ebola response in DRC.
I'm excited to join the WHO #HealthforAll Challenge in Geneva this Sunday! Prioritizing #mentalhealth GLOBALLY is critical to all of our overall health and well-being. @DrTedros

Congratulations Fiji 🇫🇯 on verification of your Emergency Medical Team! I am very happy to hear this news! EMTs are called on to support the response to health emergencies, and this is a great achievement for Fiji. Thank you for all those who worked hard for this.
I'm here in North Kivu to show my support to @WHO staff and partners. We are all shaken by the violent death of Dr Richard Valery Mouzoko Kiboung. He died saving the lives of people impacted by #Ebola. I am here to show his work will continue.
