If your definition of “ultimate” is strictly sound quality based, then sure, I would agree. But as a headphone overall? AirPods Max have got more going for it than just sound quality.

@Johnharveywells @TailosiveTech The Beats will always be the less expensive headphone line. AirPods Max sound great and are a premium build, I don’t think Apple has much incentive to lower the price.
