@ltniita @RogersHistory I’m unsure what you mean by ‘unreasonable for the teacher to present what can be expected of them?’ It is a professional career so their adherence to the teacher standards is routinely monitored by their line managers. Are you suggesting children should monitor professionals?

@ltniita @RogersHistory And they do. There is a set of teacher standards to be adhered to. Routines allow all students to succeed, where disruption ruins some students education. Why wouldn’t they want routine?

@biddy_summers @bigsioda @UpsalaGirl The 6 weeks off is completely irrelevant. Many would sacrifice that to be able to take flexible days off for key events instead.. Like first day of school etc. A lack of flexibility (alongside other issues of course) puts SO many people off the career, hence the shortage

@KerryFi72237054 @smurph1905 @NEUnion Well exactly. The bursaries aren’t useful. Especially as a training year, then suddenly you are an NQT on significantly less money with more workload. But they keep increasing starting wage rather than experience 🙄

@KerryFi72237054 @smurph1905 @NEUnion I agree about the Tories at least, they totally screwed education over the last 13 years. However, I think clubs are very important for student enrichment, especially in low-socioeconomic areas. It’s those students who will suffer the most and it’s so unfair.

@KerryFi72237054 @smurph1905 @NEUnion Of course I understand the economics. I also understand that the education is in crisis and soon there won’t be any staff left to teach. It’s frustrating as I love my job but it’s becoming unsustainable for those remaining. No one is coming into the career anymore 🤷‍♀️

@smurph1905 @KerryFi72237054 @NEUnion Is this to me? Of course it bothers me, I voted reject as it’s a shocking deal. We already can’t recruit staff in our department as it is. We’ve had supply teaching over 250 students this year. 50+ parental complaints but we can’t do anything about it. No staff - esp in Science

@carbootboy @Lucie1980 @BBCBreaking It is impossible to earn 44k as a regular teacher and no extra responsibility in England. The current U3 wage is £43,685 (outside of LDN) after 11 years experience. In 2013, it was £37,497. After 11 yrs experience, that isn’t a good wage considering the qualifications needed.

@BovillRyan @GillianKeegan I think not getting paid for the day is repercussion isn’t it? Sacrificing over £1000 wage to ensure the students don’t have the rise taken out of the existing budgets 👀 Do you realise teachers are parents too and have to pay the ridiculous holiday prices..

@Bubblegum12031 @Morgan23Helen @GillianKeegan The people I spoke to who accepted only did so because they couldn’t afford the strike action anymore but still aren’t happy with the deal. I’ll be leaving after I’ve worked my maternity leave back and I’m 1 of 4 science staff in my school leaving the profession.
