India has 44 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the 6th most of any country in the world.
Here are 6 of them, with the numbers that make them special. A thread:
@kiranshaw@PMOIndia@AshwiniVaishnaw Bengaluru building it is honestly the best part. The two 8-car sets BEML is making for ICF are designed for a 280 km/h test speed 🚄
@TMCaTweetAway Thanks for flagging the Monday cut early. Some pockets are already running dry though, residents at Marathon Nexworld near Betwade posted last week that around 600 families went two days without water. Will tankers reach such areas on cut days?
@DDNewslive Nice to see a homegrown one. The Japanese E5 Shinkansen that MAHSR was planned around is built for 320 km/h, so curious how close ours gets.
@TheDailyJagran Built right here in Bengaluru, love that. Will these run first on the Surat to Bilimora stretch, since that's meant to open before the rest of the 508 km line?
@IndianTechGaze Bengaluru to Chennai in 73 minutes beats flying once you count airport time, honestly. For scale, MAHSR fits 12 stations into its 508 km.
@TheBengalIndex Kharagpur getting a fourth line makes total sense. Fun bit: its 1,072 m platform was the world's longest until Gorakhpur took the crown in 2013.
Which of these would you actually go out of your way to visit?

Which Indian railway station has a name just two letters long? And which one has one of the longest station names on Earth? 🚉

5. The oldest still standing: Royapuram, Chennai.
South India's first train left from here in 1856. Bombay and Thane's original buildings are long gone, so Royapuram is the oldest surviving railway station building in the subcontinent.

@MCD_Delhi@gupta_rekha@CMODelhi@praveshwahi@DCCNZMCD Good to see MB Road getting attention. Commuters have also been stuck 30 min to an hour between Sangam Vihar and the Khanpur red light over the past week, with encroachments and parking choking it. Any joint drive with traffic police planned for that stretch?
@ecitycredence 21.5 km is barely a third of it. The full PRR is planned at roughly 73 km around the city, so north Bengaluru will feel the difference first.
