@GeorgeSchulte@GuyJackson777 What’s coming in the clouds mean? A dude cloud surfing all over the world until everyone sees him?
Judgment language. Scripture interprets scripture. world ended whn God went on a swift cloud to Egypt(Is 19)? No. He used Assyria to crush Egypt. Rev is Rome crushing Jerusalem
@GeorgeSchulte@GuyJackson777 I’m always doing a bit of study. But that aside for now. How are you dealing with the New Testament imminent language? Jesus and the apostles multiple times said soon in many ways. Were they wrong? If not, maybe your expectations need adjusting. Study Jewish apocalyptic language
@GeorgeSchulte@GuyJackson777 It doesn’t. But even if it did. He said “these are the days of vengeance…”
To the high priests: “YOU will see Son of Man seated at right hand, coming with clouds of heaven.” (Mk 14:62) reference to Ps110:1 & Dan7:13-14. There’s way too much imminence language to hand-wave away
@GeorgeSchulte@GuyJackson777 I understand context fine. What context is it to hand wave “soon,” “this generation,” “all that is written,” “(to the high priests) You will see me coming in power’” etc etc, all the imminent language of the NT to mean thousands of years?
@GeorgeSchulte@GuyJackson777 Jab at my Bible study habits aside, all promises are fulfilled in Christ. All.
2Cor1:20“For all the promises of God find their Yes in Him.”
Jesus to his disciples: “These are the days of vengeance to fulfill ALL THAT IS WRITTEN.” Not most, or some… All. Spoken about 2000 yrs ago
@MrMrsTrumpet Old Cov still in effect (fading, as Hebrews notes) when the apostles walked the earth. They’re the last of the prophetic office. New Cov built on the foundation of apostles & prophets, Christ as the cornerstone.
