@mmatthias@Modostech@FrameworkPuter@dhh This is a good question and there is a recent video that talks about the E-Ink Monopoly and how hard these screens are to produce https://t.co/7liejZtQ5a
Finally finished the build of this Modos E-Ink Screen Framework 13 Laptop. All the info on the Thingiverse page for 3D printing the chassis, OS, Bill of Materials, references, etc. https://t.co/QJalkVWj0i
Thanks to @Modostech screen, @FrameworkPuter parts and @dhh free OS!
@dhh@Modostech@FrameworkPuter Thanks @dhh, and thanks for creating Omarchy! Very nice combination for that project.
(By the way, I have sent you an email for a proposition if you are interested one day, but I know you must be a very busy person ;-)
All the best.
@jacobc_eth@andysmithai@Modostech@FrameworkPuter@dhh There are different screens, the flow is a different one especially the color one. The monochrome have more reflexivity and contrast(?). Join the discord to ask the specialist https://t.co/d9b0INsan0
@cafeyadayada@Modostech@FrameworkPuter@dhh Yes! Perfect combo! Just found that nice file explorer as well https://t.co/jT27pYuYih that works great for that e-ink screen.
@z_anyware@Modostech@FrameworkPuter@dhh This is a hard one as the display cable are usually going through the hinges in a regular laptop. Not impossible with a 3d printed chassis but challenging. Also, the modo display board for that particular board dev kit is "hard" mounted on the side, almost impossible to move.
@cefegezor@Modostech@FrameworkPuter@dhh Rough calculation:
- machine with no screen = 5.2 W
- + Modos (1.4 W) = 6.6 W → 9.2 hours
- + LCD dim (1.8 W) = 7.0 W → 8.6 hours
- + LCD bright (4.3 W) = 9.5 W → 6.4 hours
A typical E-Ink screen would only be 0.3W, but without the controller (modos)

@Olli757@Modostech@dhh You can check the modos discord channel for more pics, but this 13.3 inches screen 4:3 from https://t.co/vi7ZgsmpjU fits perfectly the framework 13 chassis
@otrebu@Modostech@dhh When the prototype is more advanced, I am planning on sharing the files and the docs so that anyone can reproduce with a 3d printer.
