And @cjfariss we are out in print...
Check it out. Per internet searches, human rights remains a prominent political discourse, especially in the Global South.
The Global Resonance of Human Rights: What Google Trends Can Tell Us | @apsrjournal https://t.co/zXfaCaiNjF
Search engine data shows interest in human rights is higher in the Global South than in the Global North. @Doctor_Dancy and @cjfariss argue that shows the continued relevance of the human rights framework. https://t.co/jsh5wsifbt
There's still time to sign up for many of our excellent @EssexSumSchool first session workshops, including my world famous Bayesian Road Show, which is available both in-person and online.
In this new @apsrjournal article, @cjfariss and I use Google Trends data to show that human rights are most resonant in the Global South.
Re. 'endism', we also find little evidence that the human rights discourse is becoming less popular worldwide.

Excited to find out that I am the recipient of this year’s Dina Zinnes award. Huge thanks to the selection committee! I do hope the APSA Montreal visa saga that did not give me a chance to receive my APSA award will not repeat with ISA Montreal in 2023.

Happy to announce that my @BJPolS article "Personalization of Power and Mass Uprisings in Dictatorships" with @wonjunomatic and Joe Wright is now open access! https://t.co/mBV2tJT79b
It's out! We find that (1) protesters are less likely to mount a major nonviolent uprising against dictatorships with personalized security forces, (2) personalized security forces are more likely to repress realized protest, and (3) shape the prospects for democratization.
What a nice surprise! Exciting to see my job market paper win the APSA Best Paper award in Democracy & Autocracy. Special thanks to the award committee!

The newest piece from SNARP is now available @ISQ_Jrnl. In this article, @RebeccaCordell, @cjfariss, Reed Wood, Thorin Wright, and I use supervised machine learning to extract allegations of physical integrity violations from human rights country reports. https://t.co/0UeBLc4dZl
Interested in political violence, policing, and/or crime? In this new article I go on a process tracing mission to find out why former insurgent strongholds struggle with postwar crime, and what policing got to do with it (1/4) https://t.co/kDiuYspyrU
Very excited that my new paper is finally out in JCR! https://t.co/41ItG3897v
A short summary: It shows how governments leverage relationships and strategic clemency to induce defection and betrayal among dissidents, destroying dissent networks from within. (1/)
