@Christi45711236 @Sensor010@GaryIngle77@ShitpostGate I remember reading about memory palaces and thinking that sounded great. Really didnโt work out for me and now I know why ๐
@GaryIngle77@arkephi@Sensor010@ShitpostGate Yeah, very much this. Itโs partly feeling it rather than seeing it. My brain flips through everything thatโs connected and forms a kind of schema but itโs quite abstract.
@GaryIngle77@Sensor010@ShitpostGate I have my own version of what picturing something means, which on reflection now feels more like filtering through what I know about something and forming a mental modal of what that thing. Until recently I assumed thatโs what everyone experienced and the word was metaphorical
@GaryIngle77@Sensor010@ShitpostGate I think itโs because of language. We learn what the words to describe things mean in the abstract and then assign them to our own experience. Then when someone else describes their experience, we relate that to our own. Like when someone says they are โpicturingโ something.
@Sensor010@GaryIngle77@ShitpostGate But yes, memory for me is mostly just information thatโs all connected in a big web. I think it also explains why I would be a terrible bystander to be questioned after an accident but have an overall pretty sharp memory, particularly for factual information.
@Sensor010@GaryIngle77@ShitpostGate I didnโt realise people actually picture what they are reading in their head. I thought counting sheep was more of a thought experiment. I didnโt fully get why people got mad that characters in movies didnโt match their expectation from the book.
@UnknownGuest@SamKelham@gatsbyjs Very much in agreement here. It's always tough to try and balance our success metrics as developers vs. content editors vs. end users. A lot of editors value previews, scheduled posts etc. These can be implemented but require quite a bit off extra dev overhead.
