“As a citizen of this country, I simply wanted our single votes to be fully protected. I wanted every person on this land to be respected as equal citizens with one vote.”

On June 16, while the protest to protect the ballot boxes inside the Jamsil Handball Stadium was underway, the Korean Sports & Olympic Committee — after reaching an agreement with the People Power Party — attempted to enter the venue.

In the Jamsil protest, which had no clear leading organization, confusion broke out. Some citizens argued that the sports committee should be allowed entry under the leadership of the People Power Party, while many others insisted that no one should be permitted inside, as the protest was aimed at preserving the ballot boxes — potential critical evidence of election fraud.

At that moment, a woman in her 30s grabbed the door at Gate 2-1 and single-handedly blocked everyone from entering.

In today’s interview, she explained that she believed no one should be allowed inside the counting center until an official evidence preservation order was issued. That was why she stood firm for nearly two hours.

Thanks to her, no one was able to enter that day. Many citizens greatly admired her courage and sacrifice, and began calling her "Ol-dark" — the Joan of Arc of Olympic Park.

She was later reported to the police for interfering with business operations and is currently under investigation.

During her appearance at the police station today, she was accompanied by Hwang Kyo-ahn(@hkyoahn), leader of the Freedom and Innovation Party, and lawyer Park Joo-hyeon (@parkjoohyeon79).

Even after returning from the U.S., Hwang — former Prime Minister and leader of the Freedom and Innovation Party — headed straight to Olympic Park within three hours to stand with the citizens.

In contrast, South Korea’s President has only issued threats on X, without ever visiting the site.

A young man who had been guarding the facility all night in the pouring rain broke down in tears the moment he saw Hwang.
