Even with a diagnosis they don’t get the right support because the funding isn’t there. It took me years get an increase in funding even though my daughters needs changed. It’s still not enough but we are lucky to have an amazing home and carers @VoyageCare
@ccwild79 @ChrisTuck_WWHF Many children with #Valproate syndrome #FACS#FVS#FVSD enter Care sector when their mother becomes unable to look after them due to ill health or die. Many children don't have a diagnosis so they don't get appropriate support.
@PSCommissioner needs to be aware of this issue.
We would like to thank @DonnellyStephen for his support
If the timeline shows there were systematic failures, then my strong preference would be that families should not have to go to court and we should find a non-adversarial process of providing supports and #compensation
#BMJ
“Perhaps most striking was the testimony from hundreds of #patients reporting lack of informed #consent for their initial treatment, followed by years of dismissal by clinicians and #regulators who did not want to associate life altering symptoms or injured children with their medical interventions”
“In a press release Cumberlege said that in years of reviews and inquiries she had never encountered anything like the intensity of suffering of these medically injured families.
The review panel found that #healthcare providers’ dismissive attitude toward patients was underpinned by a reluctance in all parts of the system to collect evidence on potential harms”
The warning signs came from the Cumberlege Review 4 years ago & I’m sad to report that healthcare providers continue with this entrenched dismissive attitude
#redress & positive change is reasonably expectedly

“It’s depressing to hear the parallels between the infected blood inquiry and the Primodos, Mesh and Valproate scandals’” @DianaJohnsonMP in todays All Party Parliamentary meeting on #firstdonoharm
It was a “day of shame” yesterday - but a gathering of MPs today found there was plenty more to be ashamed of over #Mesh, #Valproate and #Primodos - with the Patient Safety Commissioner saying her pleas to govt. were “falling on deaf ears.” https://t.co/npCNWYv2kZ
“NHS is fundamentally misogynistic. I’m concerned that after the blood scandal any other work on compensation will be smoked out - NOTHING has happened for financial redress for mesh injured women.” @AlecShelbrooke in todays APPG on #firstdonoharm
there really can be no peace without justice. there can be no justice with truth. and there can be no truth, unless someone rises up to tell you the truth. @bloodinquiry@FdnhLtd@ValproateUK@accesstojustice
@ValproateUK@facsaware@PSCommissioner my daughter is 21 and was damaged by valproate another scandal that was covered up brushed under the carpet, when will you listen to the victims and give justice to all.
Great news that High Court threw out the new protest laws. In 2013 we protested outside MHRA and they brought us in to discuss shortly after. Direct action was our last resort. Photo courtesy of Warwick Sweeney @CarolineLucas@DianaJohnsonMP

The Inquiry Report | Infected Blood Inquiry- lessons must be learned from this. Delays, obstruction and cover ups - and ruined lives. Victims suffering could have been eased, if government had acknowledged the injuries and paid compensation 30 years ago. https://t.co/Zn6OwNsY9H
