@KamalaHarris and Tim Walz, are you aware that your interview with @CNN can only be accessed by those who pay for a TV Provider? This is a poor move if you want to reach the huge part of the American population who solely streams their media. Very disappointing. @VP @KamalaHQ
@cmmteach So I am also SO VERY BAD at transformations (my spatial sense is v weak). And I NOTICED a bit ago while planning lessons that you can relate it to slope. So when you reflect, the slope from A to line and from line to A' will be related. Also worked with rotations.
@cheesemonkeysf THANK YOU for voicing this. Everyone is going around talking about these cool new learning sites and "here's 6 documents with 7 links each to videos about how to ____" and I'm over here like "...how 'bout we all stay alive and learn a little bit?"
@optimizingke@mavenofmath I do this too! I can't tell you how many times I've opened my phone to look at the weather and then ended up spending 15 minutes scrolling social media instead 🙄 🤦♀️
@mavenofmath Also re: phones, that's assuming every student has one, so we can run into some equity issues there. A $20 calculator is more accessible to some than a hundreds of dollars device. Also my school is no-phones-in-class, so that's moot point anyway.
@mavenofmath Honestly, I haven't tried it, so maybe I spoke too quick. Regarding scientific calculators, is your question based on the fact that Desmos is free and so buying a calc is a waste of money? Or is there functionality that you think makes Desmos superior?
@misscalcul8 This is my plan! I might just do the first semester (mostly because I teach 3 classes and don't have time to do the entire year), but I think it will be really helpful.
@MrsSheehanMath I have been wondering the same thing! My plan for next school year was to hit Number Talks every. single. day. And then Covid happened, and I'm trying to figure out how I'd do it. We're losing so much goo math chat time!
@misscalcul8 Let me know when you find it. My hometown full-on had white supremacists line the streets with bullet-proof vests and assault rifles to "protect" the streets from "rioters" and "antifa".
We're "discovering" the Order of Operations through number talks by noticing patterns and making claims and conjectures. No more PEMDAS is this classroom!

We did it! Somewhere between 60 and 70 people attended, which was amazing!
