Every room needs a health check. Is it breathing ok? What to do?
USE A CO2 monitor 🚦
How well is the old indoor stale breathed out CO2 Air replaced by the outside 'Fresh'Air?
🟢CO2<800ppm recommended

🚦 CO2 (carbon dioxide) monitors are in schools to measure exhaled air. (They don’t measure virus)
..the more people breathing, the more CO2 build up
.. the more exhaled air, the more chance of inhaling virus particles
So more clean air & fewer people reduces the risks 2/
AMAZING NEWS FOR CV FAMILIES IN LONDON!
Congratulations to SmartAir!
Brilliant effort by @EllaRobertaFdn 💕💕💕
CVF advocated for this too to the @MayorofLondon team. SmartAir filters have always rated highly in independent trials and will be perfect in school settings. 🌬️
A simple chart can help compare a range of #AirFilterUnits
Calculate cost effectiveness
High CADR
Low noise
Think what's suitable 4 context how many required
Use adapter sockets if there is a socket
To place more than one
Think abt footplate

Informative webinar yesterday from US Environmental Protection Agency “Reducing Airborne Viruses in Schools: Optimizing Ventilation and Energy Efficiency”, with grateful thanks.

Clinically vulnerable patients deserve so much better than this.
The UK's NHS hospitals need major investment to improve the ventilation in ALL areas. And to address its Infection Prevention Control policies.

Here, many patients are crammed into prefabricated extensions. They are convalescing in air with CO2 over 1000ppm. There's no amazing air changes there.
It is very inconsistent and a big risk of hospital acquired infection, to those people trying to recover.
5/
Theatres with laminar flow can have up to 300 air changes per hour.
This is typically used in orthopaedic surgery. The risk of infection is particularly high when you're putting bits of metal deep inside the body. It's expensive to correct & obviously bad for the patient.
3/
The risk of infection is high when you open up people's bodies. So the air must be as pristine as possible.
I listened to a podcast with a hospital designer talking; standard surgical theatres have around 22 air changes per hour.
2/
My partner is an anaesthetist. He took a CO2 monitor into work this week; the air quality inside surgical theatres is probably the best on the planet.
However, other areas of a hospital can have very poor air quality...

Controlled Mechanical Ventilation
To ensure consistent air renewal maintaining thermal comfort

Opening windows alone wasn’t enough to maintain safe air quality. 🌬️
Our findings emphasize the need for Controlled Mechanical Ventilation (CMV) to provide fresh air while keeping rooms comfortable.

Can’t quite figure out the ventilation rate in your space? But you happen to have a CO2 sensor? No worries, we have you covered…
