3D printing a fishing reel. It’s never too late to learn CAD — great Fusion 360 tutorial by Brad Tallis.

The first part was manufactured using a Formlabs Form 4 printer with Clear Resin. The print time was 1 hour and 1 minute. No special surface treatment was done.

This time, I gave Claude CAD a DXF drawing rather than a png screenshot. It read the DXF directly, and most importantly, it could distinguish object lines from dimension leaders just by filtering the DXF data.

hot take: your first prototype should be embarrassing. if it looks polished, you spent too long on it. i used to waste weeks making pretty CAD models before testing anything. now i start with cardboard and hot glue. learning happens faster when you're not precious about it
