I beg you: schedule a 15-minute walk in your calendar (yes, do it right now!) sometime today, just like you would any other meeting.
A Stanford research report showed that walking increases creativity by 60%—and this creative boost lingers when sitting down again after your walk.
This stat burns in my mind every single day.
Walking should be a non-negotiable part of your workday. Yes, it takes effort but it is more productive than sitting down. Use that time to think through a problem or decision you need to make. Talk to a teammate to brainstorm ideas. Even better if you go on a walk with a teammate (Steve Jobs was famous for his walking meetings, especially for difficult conversations.)
From an evolutionary perspective, our brains developed while working out, walking as many as 12 miles a day. The brain still craves that experience.
So please, schedule the walk!
