UK’s last coal-fired power station set to close

The closure of the UK’s last coal-fired power station has been described by officials as a “tremendously important milestone” in energy production.
Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station in Nottinghamshire is due to shut early next week, with demolition of the site to follow after decommissioning, which is set to take two years.

The site has been producing energy since 1967.

The approach pushes to transition the United States to 100% renewable, zero-emission energy sources, including investment in electric cars & high-speed rail systems, and implementing the “social cost of carbon" that was part of the Obama administration's plan for addressing climate change within 10 years. The resolution includes calls for universal health care & increased minimum wages. Neither Markey nor Ocasio-Cortez included cost estimates for their program.
