Great write up there Stu, thanks. Like the detail around things, not just the headlines, interested to see the career path on people like Ames, Critchley and Jenkins too. All key people like Pert is for McKenna.
Would have liked some continuity with Pert, Aluko, Stanislas etc, but appreciate McKenna will likely be dictating that!
#itfc My honest opinion on the apparent O’Neil appointment is I’m a little underwhelmed. That said he’s kept teams up and whilst I’d love to see us playing good football, staying up another season is more important.
Wolves hardly kicked on after he left (although did have an insane upturn in form after he was sacked but one year later…)
I think there were absolutely ’sexier’ and more exciting candidates out there but we’ve gone for a known quantity here.
No idea what will happen but O’Neil needs some early points on board as many fans won’t give him any time, hell, some wanted McKenna gone after all he’d done for us!
Another tough season beckons! COYB
If it’s O’Neil I’m supportive. Anyone who gets the job deserves a chance at success and not being written off before they even step through the door. Positivity breeds positivity and belief has to be there or it’s doomed from the start #itfc
I think any sport is relatively boring if you don't understand the more technical parts. Nothing wrong with draws, I don't want to be sat there for 4 hours waiting for a winner, and having penalties every week would mean they lose their charm in knock out competition. Americans are slowly warming to it, will take time, but the ROW can't all be wrong can they? We've grown up with it.
That said, FIFA doing their best to ruin it....Championship football is the most exciting IMO, way more exciting to watch, no VAR to ruin immediate emotions either!
@1KWillG Judge him harshly on. He’s a technical analyst for UEFA, so not just man manager. I just think he’s not the sexy unknown young coach we all clamour for, doesn’t make him a bad choice
@thewallbank@Benno1uk Cardiff were a mess and a newly promoted team…we know how that went for McKenna, perspective needed for that. No disgrace coming second to Pep’s City either!
@danitfc99@PepTeam Imagine Pep saying “you know what, this is a real challenge” calling Ashton and saying he’s available. A bit like me taking Swindon to Champions League in Champ Manager 94 😂
Thanks Kieran McKenna for the best few years ever, sharing 3 promotions and the Premier League with my son who said when we got our season tickets after Covid “imagine we one day make it to the PL” @IpswichTown legend, forever grateful, enjoy the break!
