A special rededication ceremony has been held at Hawkcombe Cemetery, Porlock, to mark the installation of a German War Graves headstone for Wilhelm Reuhl, a 20-year-old airman who died when his aircraft was shot down over Porlock Bay in 1940.

Co-hosted by the CWGC and the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge, the ceremony not only honoured Wilhelm's memory but also celebrated a remarkable story of reconciliation, compassion and enduring friendship between the community of Porlock and Wilhelm's family in Germany.
