@juberti Cool ! I was just wondering of the rt models were "forgotten".
However I just tested it on our evaluation dataset (text-to-text) it's roughly 2x slower than the previous model. Is it expected?
Would you believe that deep RL can work without replay buffers, target networks, or batch updates? Our recent work gets deep RL agents to learn from a continuous stream of data one sample at a time without storing any sample. Joint work with @Gautham529 and @rupammahmood.
I vividly remember the time I discovered that ‘std::vector<bool>’ wasn’t actually a vector. I was so pissed off I documented my feelings for posterity https://t.co/tlwR7ZqXOc
Anyway, I’m happy to see people are still getting fooled in 2024 :)
An ETH Zurich (@ETH_en) lecturer published a paper "proving" that C++ vector is 20x slower than C array: https://t.co/lE9DvN9qkP
He used `vector<bool>`, completely unaware that it is a dynamic bitset.
Guess googling "vector<bool> slow" before publishing was too hard. 🤦

Our seventh installment is our biggest and most comprehensive yet, covering everything you *need* to know about research, industry, safety and politics.
As ever, here's my director’s cut (+ video tutorial!) 🧵
Being a senior developer is being able to fix the bug in 5 minutes
But having the discipline to assign it to a team member knowing it’ll take them 4 hours
I'm tired of having to prove to people that generative AI systems infringe by default, so here's a megathread of images I've prompted you can use in your discussions.
Article by @GaryMarcus and myself at the end. 1/🧵
@jmac_ai@proceduralia I guess my point is that it’s a continuum between planning in known deterministic environments and model free RL. And it’s always the same concepts and objective -> optimizing for a value function.
@jmac_ai@proceduralia I mean we’re saying the same thing, you can “theoretically” build a search tree in any environment, it’s often impractical or impossible, though. RL enables the same thing by learning a model (explicitely for model based implicitely otherwise) from interactions.
On continue ⤵️

#vraiquestion
