@SimonHarrisTD it does seem to say something about how much we as society value pregnancy versus self determination. Iโm not sure thatโs what the majority voted for in the referendum. And just to be clear I voted Yes and would be a conscientious provider gp.
GP payment for 9 ante/postnatal visits=โฌ242.85
This provides medical care from the 1st visit the whole way through a pregnancy, including 2 postnatal checks at 2 and 6 weeks
Payment for a termination of pregnancy=โฌ450

@SimonHarrisTD : those lazy GPs probably will close like the dole from 20th of December to 15th of January, too. We clearly need more managers in the HSE to sort this mess out. Mother: GP crisis saw baby at death's door https://t.co/H06l5UtUlm
Head of HSE clearly witnessed the institutional anti-GP sentiment rife in Govt (undeniably targeted and vindictive ) and the need to โ make peace with GPs and treat them fairly โ.

Iโm in Australia at the moment. Iโve received four job offers in two days. Thereโs hope and opportunity even for an old-fashioned GP like me. Frankly Iโm sick of listening to @SimonHarrisTD and his empty rhetoric and would advise all young Irish GPs to get out now.

I know Michael D since the 1980s. He had a long struggle to build a base in Galway West, sacrificing political advancement for his ideals. Ironically, he has had a handsome majority in his last electoral battle. A good evening for Michael D and the country.
The house call will become scarcer than unicorns ๐ฆ - due to Govt removal of GP travel expenses / lack of capacity/ lack of GPs and FEMPI.

Throughout history, demagogues rarely need to direct the violence. They set the tone โ they focus the blame, ridicule, rage and hate -- and leave the violent acts to others. That way, they can always say โit wasnโt me. I donโt have blood on my hands. The culprits are out there.โ
@CarolineMasonM1 @marietcasey @barb287 @WomenMedIreland@PHMECNIreland I qualified as a consultant in public health med in Oz. Heading back to Queensland next year because of lack of consultant contract for our specialty in Ireland. @SimonHarrisTD will keep talking bout screening +outbreaks and immunisation while refusing to recognise public health
