@estel_strider @fchollet I think the difference in enforcement of Trump and Obama's immigration policies is material and important. It seems very clear to Obama's approach to enforcing immigration law was much less controversial or problematic.

Obama deported 400k immigrants a year with a tight focus on criminals, and he did by spending a fraction of what Trump has and without raising foment and murdering citizens.

@gilled34 @fchollet That may be entirely true, but clearly the heritage of Western democracies is not the Third Reich. Western democracy is an ideological descendent of the Enlightenment and related philosophies. The Third Reich rejected many Enlightenment ideals that we embrace today.

@gilled34 @fchollet Not really. The Third Reich was clearly rejected and the primary salient features of Western society is liberalism and democratic pluralism - which mainly claim the enlightenment as its heritage. This isn't that arbitrary.
Things can always change yet.
