Our report, Homewood bound? Challenges along the UK's small-scale timber supply chain from forest to construction, is officially launched. 🌲🏡 🎉

A first step in our efforts to build stronger connections between healthy forests and healthy homes.
@forest_policy Thanks! We really enjoyed interviewing people from forestry, timber & construction. Some great quotes from people dedicated to looking after our woodlands.

We see lots of opportunities to build stronger connections between healthy forests & healthy homes.
🌳 👩🌾 🌲
Do you own a woodland?
Do you know someone who owns a woodland?
🌳 👩🌾 🌲
We are chatting to woodland owners about their experiences of managing their woods. We are then building tools to make this easier.
DM us. We would ♥️to hear about your experiences.
In a biogenic economy all large span workshops will be fabricated from locally grown and processed timber, here’s MAKAR’s latest design & build delivery for Logie Timber to house their new sawmill line, great team effort as ever
@heatpolicyrich We'd love to see more and better sleeper trains and ferry links that are a positive part of the travel experience. I think much longer journeys are possible if they are fun. Softplay train carriage anyone?
Also excited by this parallel project that will will examine the suitability of certain species of English homegrown trees for their use in construction. @nmite_ac@BE_STbuild

@circulareconomy study puts onus on companies to redesign food.
"Today, just 4 crops provide 60% of the world’s calories...A nature-positive food system requires a more diverse mix of plants and livestock and a better understanding of local contexts"

Some parallels for forestry and why we are excited to be building a collaborative platform that connects construction with hardwoods in English Forests.
Making it easier to specify nature-positive low carbon materials.

@andyheald@forestryhour@TheICF@ForestryLS Here's Concerned Citizen aged 3 's design. ☺️ There are elements at least that are useful: Crosses to say "no".
It's also helpfully labled "sign". Any other artists or there?
Just wondering if anyone anywhere has a design aimed at children? Most children can climb before they can read. And I've yet to meet a child whose doesn't follow up an instruction with "Why?".
@forestryhour@forestsandwood The challenges of crowdfunding of forests lie in the structure of the land market, forestry tax regime, FCA rules around retail investors etc. Blockchain would not get around any of these challenges.
@forestryhour Even if you do this, the initial data entry could be tampered with. An interesting topic though, and something we'd like to delve into in more detail in a future blog. Watch this space...
@forestryhour Take provenance as an example. The physical must be translated to the digital. To do this it needs to have unique characteristics that can be recorded. Whilst tree rings or DNA could make this possible, imagine doing this for each timber product.
