We look at the effects of the withdrawal of generous unemployment benefits. We find positive employment responses, but also displacement effects and a reduction in job quality. Consumption also decreases for some non-necessary items
How did withdrawal of unemployment benefits impact employment after #covid19? @ZParolin@UniBocconi and @clpignatti@DemmUnimi argue that unemployed individuals transitioned into lower quality jobs than their previous occupations.

@AndreGamaaa @aletondini We look at both formal and informal employment, and find zero effects on both! But informal employment is low in SA compared to other countries, partially for historical reasons, which might also explain the lack of an overall employment effect.
In a new WP with @aletondini, we study the effects of increasing children's school enrollment on maternal labor supply. Differently from most previous studies, we find zero effects on both mothers' employment chances and working conditions. Why?🧵
In labor markets where other structural constraints to female employment exist (e.g. high commuting times), simply increasing children's access to education is unlikely to increase female labor force participation
Happy to announce that, starting in January, I will join @DemmUnimi@LaStatale as tenure-track assistant professor of economics.
Grateful to all those @Unibocconi, @UNIGEnews and @ILO who made this possible over the years. Look forward to the next chapter!
