@UPHQCreate@playersessionHQ@CoachingFamily Nice, the pressing 3 being able to score on a goal with a gk or even a small goal or 2 probably makes this have more cognitive fidelity as well
@AlexiLalas Soccer isn’t free anywhere, it’s funded by the professional teams or parents…here it’s the parents. If the pro teams decide to change the model, that’s on them but won’t happen in our professional sports model. The blame shouldn’t be on youth clubs for charging
@TheSammahmood_ Very good analysis, think the cause is wrong though. Without professional teams being a club with teams u8 to the first team, the youth development, investment and pathway won’t change. Our professional sports structure is the root of the problem I’d argue
@rxlfpacked Coincidence or correlation? Spain /Italy were the top 2 leagues during those times. Coach education, not firing coaches after 2 losses, not selling all top talents ages 16-18 so they can develop in Brazil longer as humans & players I’d say are much more pressing then 🏴 league
@Pooshdaddy The problem is the professional set up. The reason it’s pay to play here is because professional leagues in all sports here are closed shops and don’t go from u8 to the first team. Most youth players/coaches in the rest of the world are funded or partially by the first team.
Better then any passing drill or Rondo. 👏
You can do this on a very small pitch within warm-up instead of your Rondos or positional games.
Just replace the big goal by two mini-goals the goalie has to guard.
It’s not as simple as copy-and-paste 👀
@emmahayes1 challenges the idea of simply following the men’s model, while acknowledging it can be a valuable starting point 🎙️

Confidence and belief absolutely flowing through #USMNT’s play, which is Mauricio Pochettino’s fingerprints at work. This side are living up to the occasion and owning their moment
Revisiting a principle from Ian Graham’s How to Win the Premier League: “The first rule was if we are going to spend on a player, they have to play, they have to be on the pitch in order for them to make a difference...”
Availability is paramount in recruitment, and is considered more important than a player’s peak performance level.
@csevs19 Getting it right in that format would be borderline impossible. Why not use half ice games with 3v3 to 4v4 and goalie/s 14-18 on the ice at a time. Or break the session in half. Off ice warmup, full ice for 30-45 and then the other group comes in.
What are we trying to improve?
▪️Far too many drills improve drill performance more than game performance.
✔️ Saturday our kids have a game to play, not a drill.

Who wants to tell the parents that far too many drills limit brain engagement of their children? 😳
✔️The proof shows up on brain scans.
Using fMRI, Cross, Schmitt, and Grafton (2007) demonstrated greater cortical motor activity when participants practiced motor sequences in a varied, contextually rich environment compared to blocked, repetitive practice.
In other words, the brain is more engaged — not less — when the environment is unpredictable and pressured.
Multiple studies using EEG and fMRI have confirmed that contextually rich practice increases activity across cognitive, sensory, and motor regions of the brain simultaneously, in ways that blocked, repetitive practice simply does not.
