@Austen If you double the estimated water per year for Stratos to 2 Billion gallons.
6137 acre ft
Alfalfa requires 4 ft per year
1534 acres of Alfalfa
4.3 tons of Alfalfa per acre
$200/ton
Pay a farmer $1,319,240/yr to not grow Alfalfa
Thank you for your attention in this matter.
@Austen Capitalism is great. I use Claude Code everyday. He's right. In fact, 50% is a screaming deal. Privacy and copyright law wasn't written for a world where you could take peoples words, and recreate their brains. Human knowledge is a public good just like oil.
@SenSanders Not often I agree with Bernie here, but this is obviously the right way to do it. 50% might even be too low haha. Copyright and privacy law didn't foresee the ability of companies to recreate your brain's reasoning facilities from the words on the internet.
@mert@SenSanders It's not theft. Companies have recreated the reasoning facilities of millions of human brains from the content on the internet. This legislation reflects that.
@QuinnyPig@Noahpinion Lets not get ahead of ourselves. I mean I use Claude Code all day everyday on my startup, but I don't have revenue yet. We've just moved up the supply chain to the Chip FABs haha.
@Noahpinion What's happening with Erdos problems is the same as what happened to Chess. The model can solve Erdos problems because it can brute force search all the possibilities in mathematics.
@mattyglesias Biden was apparently a centrist. I think Democrats are going to have a VERY difficult time convincing moderates that they mean it without changing the policies.
@mint_spinach@Noahpinion Agree, the tradeoff is a miniature amount of Alfalfa or game changing amount of AI.
Pretty easy trade. Send a little less Alfalfa to the middle east.
