@Nemcy85@KalSpriggs So very very frustrated with Rothfuss. But he also seems to have painted himself in a corner. I finished the last book and thought “hoooh boy, not sure how you land this plane.”
And here we are 😕
Talking with Japanese X users about Battletech minutiae is literally me living my best online life. If you had told me in the 80s I’d still be playing this game in some form and talking strategy with cool Japanese folk, I wouldn’t have believed you.
@KaranVtuber Depends on the mech I’m driving and the pilot skill. If I’m running a Warhammer and the energy weapon proficiency is high, I go for legs so I can pin them down and finish them. PPCs pack a wallop 😁
This is quite literally exactly what you do with hunchbacks. The 4G is a monster in mid and short range. If you close with it, it will destroy you easily—that’s its primary combat role, short-to-medium range brawler. It can easily ruin heavy mechs like the warhammer or marauder if you aren’t careful.
Wearing it down from long range with the Centurion’s LRMs is exactly the right approach 😁
Listen, why are there not always mobs of voteless in @helldivers2 ?
This feels like it’s supposed to be tricky or an obstacle (like the Jet Brigade or spore variant), but it’s honestly the only time I find the squids genuinely fun. Like I love this missions.
I just love @Microsoft and @LinkedIn . After so many public cases about consent, etc, they just create new “categories” of notifications and automatically sign you up. I’m sure it’s in the TOS somewhere, but it’s just some crazy PM looking to pump their “email opened” numbers, with no real tracking of “user disabled notification, unsubscribed, or uninstalled the app”.
I remember when LinkedIn was useful 😝
I know there's some whole "IP and publisher" thing behind the HBS Battletech not getting any sequels of updates. But how awesome would the Battletech world be if they just kept churning out DLCs and expansions like they do for MW5:Mercernaries? Sigh.
C.S. Lewis wrote a whole trilogy about it. At least two dozen sci-fi authors have written “and humans kept believing” variants over the past 3 decades. There’s at least 5 overtly Christian book series that roll with Christian derived culture still Christianing after first contact.
There’s even one where a pastor debates theology with humanity’s conquerors.
Oh man. So battletech table top wise, this is completely different mechanics wise. But the feel of it is still about as close as you get, and the lore is sorta “running in this little sandbox corner where we are t bound by canon” but then operates timeline wise completely faithful to canon.
It’s like getting a new set of books except you get to play it out. Campaign is solid. Career is pure “I want to play Battletech but don’t have any local buds” friendly.
Playing Battletech 2018 on career mode with all mess of hard modifiers. Lost one of my starter Vindicators and I’ve been limping along from system to system trying to avoid financial ruin.
Then headshotted a Warhammer on a simple “carrier” mission on Mandalas.
Chat, I’m about to start crushing my foes!
Btw, imo the single best “cheap” upgrade you can get early game is the snub ppc. Buy whatever variant you first find (around 200-300k) even if it puts you a little in the hole. Buy a second one as soon as you can afford it as a backup.
They are honestly super overpowered. Put them in a griffin or vindicator—and you basically have a brawler than can also ambush and backstab.
