I’m a journalist. That’s a disclaimer.
I think whoever is in charge of the Tooro affairs at the moment took way too long to block journalists.
See, the palace or the kingdom structure always needs one voice vessel, that voice tells people what’s happening and also shares the needed footage.
In the UK, it’s usually someone speaking on behalf of the monarch, the journalists are usually outside the gate and once in a while the person shows up, relays information to the media and leaves. In that way, there’s one voice, and all images are coming from a controlled source…. That’s usually BBC.
In this case Tooro would have worked with the media council and they would have availed verified information to the media.
The media however would still have access to arriving delegates, the locals, the surrounding to still create their own narrative.
What happened however, it’s like the gates were open to everyone with a camera, everyone was allowed to speak to the media.
Before we knew it, the Musuuga was talking, someone else was addressing a press conference, Princess Bagaya was addressing some journalist and so was Komuntale, then came Musuuga’s son…. For media, of course that’s content, but for Tooro, I feel like some people don’t have reputations after this….
Anyway, today they decided to close the gates to the media, I don’t know if there’s any information being passed to them inform of updates.. but look at it this way, since they closed the gates off and left the media out, this has managed to be the first day of mourning to go without dramatic updates… and it’s not because there isn’t any drama within the palace walls, it’s because there are no cameras to have it broadcasted.
Anyway, get time and buy this amazing piece of journalism.

Fortunately, in a telephone call, Her Royal Highness Kemigisa, told me that H.H. Oyo left a young boy heir that will be introduced to the public at the right time.

H.H. Oyo worked well with the Central Government, thereby avoiding the mistake of trying to use the Cultural Institutions that were restored by the NRM to promote sectarianism. It would be good if all the Cultural leaders understood the importance of this.
