Did you know about Glorfindel’s prophecy of the Witch-king?

J.R.R. Tolkien's The Return of the King, Appendix A (section on Gondor and the heirs of Anárion, describing the Battle of Fornost).After the Witch-king flees, Glorfindel stops King Eärnur from pursuing him and says:

"Do not pursue him! He will not return to this land. Far off yet is his doom, and not by the hand of man will he fall."Centuries later, during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, the Witch-king confronts Éowyn and declares: "No living man may hinder me!"

Éowyn removes her helmet and replies: "But no living man am I! You look upon a woman." She strikes him down, aided by Merry's wound from a Barrow-blade that breaks his protective spell. Thus, the prophecy is fulfilled he falls not by the hand of a man, but by a woman (Éowyn) and a hobbit (Merry).

Glorfindel's words are remembered as legend, and the book notes that they came true exactly as spoken.
