As if Communism wasn’t bad enough already, highly educated Western libs have managed to make it much, much worse.

Specifically, today’s American and European Marxists have blended the collectivism that defined Communism at its inception with a very anti-human strain of Rousseauism that seeks to greatly reduce humanity’s impact on the planet, and by extension humanity’s comfort.

And nowhere is this Frankenstein philosophy more plainly visible than in our current air conditioning debate.

European countries are doing their best to ban domestic AC units, and Dem leaders such as Newsom and Mamdani are urging people to keep theirs at 78 degrees.

There’s virtually zero mention of potential solutions, no plans to innovate their way out of their current conundrum (so much for the Party of Science).

Such nonsense would be too far left for Lenin himself, as one of his movement’s earliest goals was the expansion of infrastructure across Russia, particularly communication and electrification networks.

"Communism is Soviet power plus the electrification of the whole country,” went the Bolshevik rallying cry.

But for today’s postmodern Marxists the human suffering is the point. Evil for them is no longer limited to Western capitalists; all of humanity is an environmental scourge that must be wiped from the planet.

How else does one explain that Europe averages roughly 50,000 heat-related deaths each year?

Add those entirely preventable fatalities to their “free healthcare” and increasingly available suicide pods and you can really cut down on some carbon dioxide.

And, of course, the welfare checks that have inevitably toppled every collectivist government in history.
