Today 40 years ago, the ANC's Amanzimtoti bombing killed five innocent civilians in a shopping centre.
• Willem Arie van Wyk (2)
• Isabella Margretha van Wyk (5)
• Johan Smit (8)
• Irma Bencini (48)
• Anna Shearer (43)
They were not “symbols.” They were children and mothers.
@JohannBiermann1 I know this will be bizarrely complicated, but how about an index focussed on a popular & highly representative aspect the lowest s/e class' usage?
Maybe a pap & walky-talky or pap & marog?
Maybe also a high s/e index? 300gr rump & 400ml Cabernet?
Every year I come to the same conclusion - mature Bordeaux is a cold season wine and the onset of winter is the perfect time to let them show their brilliant best. These are some that I’ve drink this month and every one soared with succulence and supreme ‘big smile’ drinkability
If you put out a decent and articulate trading update then the market responds hey $JSENPK Nampak
Yesterday's FY2024 trading update was sketchy and skimpy and #NPK slammed #NPK -12% lower in 3x normal daily volume as investors were shocked at what was written with some confidence tarnished
Today, a supplementary update to yesterday's YE2024 trading update was released and the market now has context to what #NPK was trying to say - all be it badly yesterday
Today, #NPH bounced +8.54% in 3.3x average daily volume to close at 43500 cents. It was holding steady at 45800 cents until THAT first trading update was released on November 27th
Whomever sanctioned and wrote that first #NPK trading update and its g-string wording should be taken outside of the tinplate factory and pelted with full cans of food .... preferable the expired ones of tinned fish cos that first trading update was stinky !
@DPWorldTour
Live interviews of players must have a negative impact on the players. They are in their zone and then have to be polite and answer relevant and irrelevant questions. These interviews should take place before or after play. No McElroy/Fleetwood interview during play
SOUTH AFRICA, YOU LITTLE BEAUTY 🇿🇦❤️For the last few years, I have been deeply frustrated with the state of our nation, but then I started traveling all over the country, and my view of things became more balanced. Today I want to celebrate the good things about South Africa, and there is a lot of good!
When I really think about it, I love this country to death. It's just our government that I'm not a big fan of. We have so many incredible features to celebrate as a nation, and I'd like to remind you of some of them today:
1. South Africans are just lekker. Yes, there are always a few bad apples, but on the overall, we are a resilient bunch who have managed to stay friendly and optimistic, despite all the things we have to deal with.
I can personally tell you, as someone who travels overseas a lot internationally, whenever I come back home, the warmth of our people is distinct. We take everything in our stride, we always have a smile on our face, and we always make a plan (sometimes to a fault).
2. Our weather and climate are near impossible to beat. Very few countries around the world get to enjoy sunshine the way we do. We don't really have four seasons. It's more like summer for eight months, then mostly spring with winter before 10am and after 5pm for about two months 🤣
3. We have the most incredible natural beauty across the country. Again, I can tell you from personal experience, and as someone who has traveled South Africa flat, we are blessed beyond what we realise. And I'm not just talking about Cape Town 🖐️
Every little city and town across the country has such a unique flavour. Our garden route should be labeled as the 9th wonder of the world. The Karoo is breathtaking. Our mountain passes are majestic. Our many bush lodges make every foreigner wish they lived here. And our wine farms are best in class around the world. It certainly doesn't hurt that our wine is cheap compared to the rest of the world either!
I could literally write a book as to why I am proudly South African, but for time sake I will just say this:
✅ Despite all our problems, we never say die, and we always make a plan. We work hard, we play hard, and we laugh A LOT!
✅ May our South African spirit never die, even when the very government that is meant to protect us does the very opposite.
✅ We are South African. Loud and proud. Anyone who's lived abroad knows this, especially when you bump into other South Africans around the world!
So I guess what I'm trying to say is... Happy Heritage Day 🇿🇦❤️
My wife and I have been fortunate to spend +-12 days a month traveling RSA visiting most SANParks and many private chalets since 2008 instead of going "overseas". Best retirement decision ever 👍
Would you rather spend say 40k on an international trip (not that it gets you terribly far) or have 12 premium weekend away experiences in South Africa?
Genuinely curious.
@your_money_blog Lucky you don't have a portfolio with STD OST. Over 6 months and still waiting for them to close account. In the meantime, value of portfolio down over R5000.
Hey, quick favour,

Dear President @CyrilRamaphosa ,
Media reports state that the @GovernmentZA@DIRCO_ZA@PresidencyZA sent observers to Ukraine to observe Russia’s unlawful and sham referendum under occupied territory.
If true, this act is the saddest & basest instincts of your administration.
