@EgoMoose We use 17.3.7, although I do see what you mean sort of when I turn on strict mode I get a lot more errors from the new solver than the old one, but the old solver on strict also spits out a billion errors that I don't even know how to begin to solve
My problem I have with this is I don't see the safety benefit in this, and no amount of customization is ever going to be as good as the custom chat uis we had, especially in roleplay games, or just if you want to theme your chat ui to fit your games style better
It also prevents us from doing nice polish things, such as showing a chat bubble ui below a players pfp in a topbar so you can see quickly who sent what without taking too much focus away from the game (RIVALS does this for example)
It just feels like the wrong direction and taking away freedom from developers and forcing us to adapt every few months is frustrating
If the safety benefit was to prevent games from logging chat messages, then I feel like there were better ways of doing this (Potentially using the same methods AI labs use to obfuscate reasoning traces while still letting the text render normally?)
i think we are missing the part where they are also REMOVING all of our existing tools to customize chat, and taking away our ability to even make a custom chat ui at all or even see what is said in chat
im so sick of this, the chat gets ruined even more every 3 months at this point, all in the name of safety but it's not doing anything. I'm sorry to be the one to say it, but it's not roblox's job to be babysitting your kids.
You almost always have to actively go out of your way to put yourself in harms way on this platform, sure there are some very small amount of bad apples that managed to do it in regular games, but there is almost nothing roblox can actually do to *prevent* that, no amount of chat updates is going to fix it unless you straight up remove it.
All roblox had to do was improve support and moderation, instead they keep shooting themselves in the foot with updates that sound good on paper but never actually work in practice
We shouldn't be ruining the experience for everyone else because an extremely small subset (<0.0000001%) of users are bad actors, they are going to find a way no matter what obstacles are in front of them
Over the next year, Roblox will be adding new tools that allow game creators to customize text chat, including...
🙂 Emoji menu
🗣️ Voice typing
👤 Avatars in chat
 Change name colors
🗨️ Typing indicators
+ more

I'm aware it's not that simple, the problem is that they aren't even targetting what will actually make a difference
I know that some of this is forced onto them, but they still have a say, chat could be completely banned for <13 users and they will still be doing all this crap, even though at that point it's no different from discord and discord is entirely focused on chatting yet they don't have any of this age group extreme filter bullshit.
@MasterLoganate it might be possible but having to do lookups on who owns the head that you wear everytime you spawn in isn't something I would like to be spending my rate limits on, it would also make character spawning take longer which is annoying
@Topunito@zeenohh it really depends what you're used to seeing, for me i prefer this method a lot more as it visualizes the actual timing gaps better for me
@perryatdiscord this is cool, i just don't want it always visible on my screen, variant 2 is best imo i don't like how variant 1 is always visible when collapsed
