How were proteinogenic peptides selectively assembled on the early earth? Exciting new work on Catalytic Peptide Ligation from @jyotisinghUCL, Daniel, @benj1_t@drsaidulislam et al. shows that even nucleophilic side chains like lysine’s can form α-peptides in neutral water!
