We remember the 343 FDNY members, 23 NYPD officers, 37 Port Authority Police officers, and 8 EMS personnel who gave their lives that day.

Todd Morgan Beamer was born on November 24, 1968, and was traveling to San Francisco on business when he boarded United Airlines Flight 93 on September 11, 2001. He left behind his wife, Lisa, their two young sons, David and Andrew, and a daughter who would be born months later.

When Flight 93 was taken over at approximately 9:28 a.m., Todd tried to call his wife using an Airfone. When the call did not connect, he reached GTE operator Lisa Jefferson. During their conversation, he calmly shared information about the situation on board. Jefferson later told investigators that Todd and other passengers learned about the attacks that had already taken place and began discussing what they could do. At Todd's request, Jefferson joined him in reciting the Lord's Prayer.

Near the end of the call, Jefferson heard Todd say, “Are you guys ready? Okay. Let’s roll.” Passengers and crew then moved forward in an effort to regain access to the cockpit. At 10:03 a.m., Flight 93 came down near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. All 40 passengers and crew members, along with the four hijackers, were lost.

Todd Beamer was 32 years old. His daughter, Morgan, was born after September 11, a child he never had the chance to meet. Today, Todd is remembered alongside every passenger and crew member of Flight 93. Their actions ensured the aircraft did not reach its intended destination, and their courage remains an important part of the history of that morning. We remember Todd Beamer. 💙✈️
