Though inconvenient for TVK, this is a topic that's worth discussing.
Running a Govt with alliance parties' support is a challenge and it gets more complex when you are to satisfy their expectations at all occasions.

Though TVK had taken a stand against SIR before the Apr 2026 elections, the SIR revision actually favoured TVK by removing all bogus entries with which DMK/ADMK were winning term after term. Today while TVK has not officially reversed their stand, they have also not actively voiced for/participated in the protests where Congress is active with Rahul Gandhi.

Whether this will upset Congress and will they have a second thought in the alliance is something we need to wait and watch as they have already severed their relationship with DMK. For 2029 Lok Sabha elections, Congress certainly needs TVK's support for securing the 40 seats in TN, hence the decision wont be easy. Plan B can only be Congress going back with DMK which is even more complex now.

For TVK, winning the 2 seats in Mathuranthagam + Dharapuram and securing all other by-elections in the future will be the key to break away from all these complexities and dependencies on other parties. Plus Vijay needs to keep his focus at good governance to keep building hie vote bank which will eventually destroy DMK/ADMK vote banks. How TVK plays out through the SIR protest phase will be interesting.

The DMK group favouring a s*x offender is not happening for the first time.

When multiple complaints were given against Vairamuthu, including singer Chinmayi, only the people who complained got sidelined from the industry whereas Vairamuthu continued his business with DMK's support. All prominent people in DMK including Stalin have happily shared stages with him, felicitated him and share a brotherly bond with him as if nothing really happened.

Now the same is happening with POCSO Veeramani case where their press wing is full on trying to protect the offender.
