Rail is vitally important to the continued success and growth of Alberta's economy. Every day, it transports Alberta products to market and delivers goods to communities across the province.
Alberta Municipalities (ABmunis) has spoken with our federal counterparts and the provincial government on the potential rail transportation shutdown and the impact it could have on Alberta's communities and businesses. We are hopeful a shutdown can be avoided through last-minute negotiations between the railways and the union representing 9,000 rail workers.
We support our membersβ call for the federal government to take immediate action to help keep Canadaβs railways running smoothly.

Local government is the most transparent and accountable of any level of government. All of our council meetings are held in public, budget deliberations are held in public, and we are face to face with our citizens everyday in our community.
