Dear all Twitter friends, it gives me immense pleasure to share that I have joined the @mybmc as Additional Municipal Commissioner and am in charge of Education and Health for Mumbai, as well as Property Tax for the entire city. I will also be handling the City division for solid waste management, sanitation, urban planning and citizen-centric issues, with a special focus on urban health, education and livelihood.

I would be happy to interact with all stakeholders, including think tanks, startups, citizen groups and young minds who are keen to partner for a better city and a wholesome quality of life for our children. Mumbai’s football fraternity is set to come together on Sunday evening to oppose the proposed change in the reservation of the Neville D’Souza Football Ground in Bandra from Playground (PG) to an Exhibition Centre.

The Mumbai Football Association (MFA) has appealed to clubs, players, coaches and other football stakeholders to participate in a peaceful and silent gathering at the ground at 5.30pm on Sunday, August 9.

Bandra shows what community spirit truly means...
On 14th February, residents came together at the iconic Carter Road Promenade for a peaceful “Jog & Talk” silent walk after a proposal to install 35 commercial LED hoardings threatened to commercialise one of Mumbai’s most loved public spaces.
During the gathering, I briefed citizens on the background of the issue and the current position as it stands. Municipal Councillors Karen D’Mello and Rahebar Raja Khan also stood in solidarity, addressing residents and emphasising the importance of safeguarding public spaces and preserving the unique character of Carter Road.
Following swift and united community opposition including a signature campaign the large hoarding installation was removed.
Residents continue to urge the @mybmc @mybmcWardHW and Maharashtra Maritime Board @mahamaritime1 to formally cancel the permissions granted and ensure that the promenade remains a community space free from commercialisation.
