@Jding314 @TimScharks @SrslyWrong@jdcmedlock A garbage collector makes ~2x the amount as a grocery store greeter. This is because it is a tougher job and it would be unfair to force a worker to work these tough jobs without compensation that makes it worth their while.
It is anti-labor to be against fair compensation.
@Octavius_Julii@JamesMMiller2@supplycider@ne0liberal I mean it amounted to 7200 dollars in the bonus unemployment if you lost your job. You would have also gotten 1200 so 8400 before normal unemployment.
It is disingenuous to say this was only 1200. It should be extended but why lie about its scope?
@Noahpinion Even within college grads I think this exists.
Lots of people (myself included) spent weekends studying a hard science while we saw those in humanities generally coast. We (irrationally?) feel like the forgiveness isn't earned since they choose a short-sighted option.
@kadyM98542283 @asymmetricinfo Agreed. But I was actually talking more about regulations and agencies more specifically (pandemic task force most noticeably)
If government was run like an actual business they wouldn't have cut stuff like that out of pure long term self interest.
@PhillyStan76 @agraybee I mean I wouldn't say that about other tax breaks for the upper class. I can be convinced if it is a one-off but in general a lot of people are skeptical of trickle down economics.
@lipton_tea_05 @GoMikeJGo @MattGrossmann@DemFromCT In relation to the original tweet though there are plenty of minority groups and particular asian groups in California that would be against affirmative action but still very anti Trump.
@PikeBot@magi_jay I hope now that the election is over we can get some deep dives into Sunrise.
My friend is in it and the local chapter has some absurd stories that sound like what conservatives fantasize all lefties are like, but actually
@johnburnsnc @DavidNeiwert I hope they stay out of GA tbh
My friends in sunrise love to canvas but cannot explain policy for more than a minute without sounding like conspiracy theorists
