A triple featured snippet! Google is now testing some significant changes to featured snippets (normally showing a single site) on the back of the SGE beta.

We've seen a similar format to this in the past under the name of 'perspectives', which is different to the recently announced feature designed to surface content within a carousel lower on the SERP.

In the past, Google has been known to surface 'double featured snippets'. But the big difference is that double featured snippets would be stacked on top of each other vertically (with a clear 1st and 2nd results), whereas the latest test features up to 3 websites horizontally.

Interestingly, I'm also seeing a double featured snippet variation of the test which doesn't appear as out of place as the triple variant does. If this test is an exact extension of the original mobile 'perspectives' test, I would guess there is a quadruple variation out there too.

Featured snippets now have the ability to show in both larger font and with a blue highlight (instead of just bolding).
