One reason I think @BlockstreamJade’s Temporary Signer deserves more attention is that it is already very close to being a completely offline BIP39 calculator. 🧮🔐

I tested the current workaround on both a retail Jade Classic and Jade Plus.

Enter the first 11 BIP39 words → choose Calculate → Jade calculates the valid 12th word containing the remaining entropy bits + checksum → temporarily load the wallet.

From there, using the QR workflow, you can reach the main wallet menu and:

🔑 Export the xpub
📱 Export the secret as SeedQR
✍️ Start the guided process for drawing the SeedQR by hand
⚡ Access the wallet temporarily without permanently saving it

There is no dedicated “offline calculator mode” in the UX today. This is a workaround using Temporary Signer.

But most of the pieces already seem to exist.

If there is demand for it, a few UX changes could create a very interesting setup for extremely paranoid/offline users:

🎲 User-generated entropy → Jade verifies/calculates BIP39 → optional BIP39 passphrase → derives wallet information → exports xpub/SeedQR → power off → temporary state disappears.

No companion software would need to participate in the wallet-generation process.

The Jade used for this purpose could remain isolated from the Internet, USB, BLE, and other network connections throughout the wallet-generation workflow.

The remaining trust assumptions would primarily be the Jade hardware and the firmware running on it.

Someone concerned about those risks could independently verify/build the firmware and generate all mnemonic entropy externally.

And that is where this gets especially interesting. 👇

The mnemonic does not have to depend on entropy generated by the hardware wallet.

Jade does not need to generate the randomness.

Generate the entropy yourself → convert it into BIP39 words → enter those words into Jade → let Jade calculate/verify what is necessary → derive the wallet → export what you need → power it off.

Jade’s flexible BIP39 word entry makes this especially interesting. The same idea also works well with passphrases built from the BIP39 word list, which Jade can enter efficiently through its WordList interface.

That could make Jade useful not just as a hardware signer, but as a completely offline, temporary BIP39 calculation and wallet-export device.

For an ultra-paranoid setup, that is a very interesting capability.
