I’d much rather cover a colleague for a day than set work for their classes for 6 months because they quit and you can’t find a replacement teacher.

@CloudKickOff @FixingEducation Sure but who are these magical people creating catch up resources in schools that are tailored to individual learning?
The better question is why aren’t schools adequately resourced to be able to support students who need additional support due to illness or absence?

@RosemariaC97026 @tinateaspoon80 @RogersHistory And as a teacher it’s absolutely awesome finishing work at 9pm knowing you need to drive home, get ready for the next full day of teaching, and be back at your desk by 8am the next day. Very conducive to the actual job of teaching children well.

@RogersHistory The phone calls thing gets me. Playing phone tag with parents who openly tell me not to call them again, or who want to argue about why their child should not have consequences for their behaviour. Total timesink when they are not receptive

@Anncaro11 @RogersHistory Yes for simple incidents, but when it gets to needing multiple student statements and untangling a complex issue the logging shouldn’t be the responsibility of the classroom teacher.
Logging a phone breach is 30 seconds, I’ve had other incidents that took hours to resolve.
