@shagbark_hick It depends on your individual rapport with your town's code enforcement officer. Try and get to know them and help them know you're serious and intent on doing things the right way. You're going to be seeing a lot of them for the entire build period at various checkpoints.

@shagbark_hick @TaglesTopGuy @TylerAmerica1st Most Americans are also uncomfortable with the below-minimum wage equivalent it takes to staff convenience stores and hotels 24x7, and they certainly aren't comfortable staffing their children in those roles.

@shagbark_hick For most, they eventually drift away and come home once at Christmas, never giving their kids a Christmas in their own home. Then there's coming to terms with the fact that your kids will never be "from" where you're from. Big reason I moved back despite the craziness of NY.
