So during the 10 years he plays on the contract, he’ll pay CA taxes. But the bulk of the money is paid starting year 11 and he can go home to Japan.

@Rackedupshortyy @ColiseumSewage @techguypaul @DnyCalifornia @CJNitkowski Not true on Ohtani. There’s a loophole in CA tax law that allows you to avoid taxes on deferred compensation if you leave the state. State Senator Josh Becker tried to pass a legislation to close the loophole but it failed.
