Our new recruits only had to wait a matter of minutes for their first shout as we were mobilised to a water rescue incident near #Rumford on Monday evening.
This was followed by a fire involving a small gas canister in #Wadebridge & a second water rescue incident near #StMerryn.
Firefighters from Callington & Bodmin - with a specialist line rescue team, safely saved a dog 🐶 named Daisy from a 25m deep mineshaft in Harrowbarrow. Daisy, with just a sore paw, is now safely back with her family. 🐾🚒 #AnimalRescue#LuckyPup
Our weekly training was based around Safety at Height And Confined Spaces (SHACS).
We focused on work restraint systems and hauling various items of equipment aloft before returning to station for an e-learning module about fires in waste sites.

We recently bid a fond farewell to Crew Manager Matt Sleeman after 11 years of service to the communities of Wadebridge and beyond.

In Manchester over this bonfire weekend and really shocked with what I’ve heard and experienced. It’s become a real issue that Emergency Services get attacked whilst at incidents, and this doesn’t just happen on bonfire night.
Sadly, we’ve just been dealing with a fire involving multiple wheelie bins and timber in Little Lever, and our crew has come under attack from people throwing bricks.
This is #BangOutOfOrder – our staff work tirelessly to protect others, they do not come to work to be attacked 😡
We are experiencing a high number of calls due to flooding across Devon and Somerset.
We need to keep emergency lines open for genuine emergencies, so please only contact us if there is a risk to life.

Wow!! 2nd Place in Heavy rescue Challenge alongside @northumberlandfire_rescue awesome result pleasure working with North Humberland FRS #extrication team.
@CornwallFRS
This evening we carried out some classroom based e-learning while enjoying some cream teas (jam first) courtesy of the owner’s of Baxter 🐶 - thank you! 😁
This was followed up by a practical ladders session to assist the development of our newer recruits.
We will never forget the 2,977 who lost their lives and have continued to be impacted by the tragic events that took place on 11 September 2001.
This included 343 firefighters who lost their life that day.
Over the last month we’ve been extremely busy keeping on top of defects. We’ve also got @StMawesCFRS’ first away in for gearbox repair and @StAustellCFRS’ operational support in for a head gasket repair. 🚒🚨🛠
We aim to train in realistic conditions to best prepare us for the real thing. Here’s a short video showing how smoke can reduce a firefighter’s visibility to almost zero.
Thanks to @BodminCFRS for use of their facilities last night during our weekly drill.
This evening we carried out Safety at Height and Confined Spaces (SHACS) training on the picturesque banks of the River Camel.
A firefighter was committed on a line to carry out a casualty assessment and prevent further escalation by stabilising the situation.
