The 14th Amendment protects everyone; any rule, any law, any regulation, any policy, that gives one set of people rights other people don’t have is inherently unjust, unconstitutional, and fundamentally at odds at what America should aspire to be.
@RichardClip@TheRomanoReport I get it. And that's a possibility. I can be naive and idealistic. But the Battle of the Bulge didn't change the outcome of the Second World War. It was, instead, one of our finest hours. The massacre at Malmedy happened, but it didn't change the outcome of either.
This account was 900 on Friday. It's now at 2.3K. (Yes, I pay way too much attention) I'm blown away by that. Many of you want a follow back, and I don't blame you. If you do, and I haven't, keep in mind I'm tryin' baby, I'm tryin'. And welcome. I'll try to be amusin'.
@RichardClip@TheRomanoReport Maybe. You can't stop crimes from happening. But no one, and I mean no one, likes a bunch of armed thugs doing violence in their community. They might hurt some people, and that's tragic, but we can't often stop crimes. So they'll do their thing, and we'll arrest them.
@Heel4thewin@BeaverProgram He certainly handled that way. I cannot believe that he rode the stock all the way down. Not a guy who unabashedly posts memes of him doing insider trading. Not a guy who refused to divest himself from any investments (don't get me started on what a revocable trust means).
I give people I disagree with a lot of leeway. Because I know that if I can get them to change their mind, or at least change how they think about my side, that has a lot more impact. Of course, I run out of patience a lot. But it’s nice when it happens.
@RichardClip@TheRomanoReport That’s persuasive to you and me, but facts and logic don’t get many of the people who switched or stayed home in 2024. What does is the fact that since they’re wrong, all those voters who know how they voted hear that they don’t count. That their vote didn’t matter. Bad idea.
@TalesTucson There’s a certain kind of person who never asks “what if I’m wrong.” Those people inevitably face a situation where not asking that leads to disaster, and we are in just such a situation.
@donkoclock Great. Faced with an election debacle, an appointment of a Nazi, and a colossal fuck up of the appointment of a press secretary, he goes golfing. In Florida. At one of his own properties. Genius!
@Logically_JC Not mine. He doesn’t want the job. He insists he’s only the president of the people who voted for him, and if he wants to define it that way, that’s on him.
@Marszalekski Damn straight. I can be even more extreme: I call the baseball stadium in Milwaukee “County Stadium,” even though that was torn down 20 years ago.
