@NotEvenWounded@JDanial89 Pre VAR the linesman would have put their flag up and assume the croatia who jumped up to head the ball and looked like they headed it in real time had in fact headed the ball.
That’s exactly the point of this midfield. You’re judging the midfield by big names instead of profiles.
France don’t need three playmakers. They already have Mbappe, Dembele, Barcola and Olise providing the creativity. What they need behind them is balance.
Tchouameni wins the ball, protects the defence and controls transitions. Rabiot covers huge spaces, carries the ball forward, presses, and links midfield to. It’s the same thing you will get with Kante, Kone or Emery. Olise then becomes the creative hub between midfield and the front three.
Every role complements the next. If you fill the midfield with attacking midfielders, who’s protecting the back line? Who’s winning second balls? Who’s covering for Mbappe when he stays high?
Football isn’t about cramming the most talented players into one XI. It’s about building a team where every profile fits together. That’s exactly why France attack look so dominant, the midfield gives them balance.
@mulletrider A shoot out pen is even different from an in game pen where the keep has to consider the rebound. In a shootiut they just need to parry it any which way. So a weak hand to a weak shot it much more advantageous
@mulletrider I guess in training there is no incentive for the keeper not to dive. They need to practice stretaching out into the corner and guessing which way to go. And the kicker needs to see if they can send the keeper.
@mulletrider you are not trying to send the keeper the wrong way, you are waiting to see which way he goes, then changing your shot last minute. and if the keeper does not dive you need to be able to hit it hard in the corner from a slow run up (like maitland niles for eg)
@mulletrider it feels stupid to say because surely professional know better than me an observer, but it feels like they are misinterpreting the skill required to pull it off
@YankeeGunner I think rogers is a clear upgrade on trossard on the left. He’s just not the best possible left wing option. Bruno might be best midfield option available but i dont think the midfield needs upgrading.
@MC_of_A@will_Read7 There is no point in trying to apply any of the rules to be fair. Football is not a fair game. The rules and their application should focus on making the game exciting. And deliberating over debatable decisions during a game is not exciting. In after the game analysis who cares
@TheJakeChristie as its the world cup i remember on one sports week saturday you asking about football (soccer) related tweets that might qualify for the museum. I have two entrants
@lukeisamazing "adult catholics converts are reactionaries" is a statement people generally make based on the observation of the converts expressed politics. The generalisation about muslim converts are they are more fundamentalist, or ginger
@IanMcQuaid This is the same for me. I went back and looked. Last few years ive known atleast 1 or 2. The last time i knew everyone on the list was 2016. So in my case its definitely age.
@kevgk2@somanyshrimp Woke 1 isnt a thing woke 2 is according to its self proclaimed members. And im not even scolding them im talking about them to someone. Im defending the idea of defending civil rights
@Alexandra6132@somanyshrimp Was scam artistry invented in 2014? Has it stopped now “woke 1” is over? Or is it ok because all the grifters have gone right wing now.
