@wildstwawberry makes you wonder how many artists (especially more recent ones) have an anonymous second income today. surely their style would be spotted if they became too prolific.
"our people...right to identify..no imposed values" type of language makes me wonder where it ends. its just so vague. intervening on a country's autonomic right to committ genocide versus their autonomic right to create a financial and societal ceiling for women. whats the line?
The last few days have exposed just how much of the left still carries a colonial mindset.
A Palestine flag or a triangle in your bio means very little if your solidarity ends the moment Palestinians or other Indigenous peoples assert the right to define our own values, norms, and future.
Decolonization isn’t just opposition to mass killing. It means Indigenous people reclaiming the right to shape our own society on our own terms, not having Western political, cultural, or social standards imposed on us all over again.
what about people in a different state? county? province? municipality? we just draw arbitrary boundaries around groupings of people. do you have the right to intervene ever? on your neighbor's domestic dispute? on genocide a lightyear away? seems too easy to just pick and choose
@wildstwawberry@realityuk gosh, idk. I remember how disastrous the PS3 launch price hike was and how its price plummeted after that. not to mention the $60 sticker price stayed steady for 20 years, a tremendous feat against inflation. competition was the driving factor behind those.
The funniest thing about anthropology is the more you learn about it, the more you realise how often full papers and books and theories came from indigenous people fucking with the researchers without them realising
@dantrizchan@Inclamiente demand curves aren't analytic functions, they're just modeled by them. prices and quantities are finite and discrete. downward sloping is just a necessary condition that arises from economic activity.
@jupiterbrandos lol horseshoe theory. maybe theres something to that. i saw anti-gatekeeping attitudes and toxic positivity shift the conversation away from "should WOTC hurt the game for money" into "is it okay to like spiderman"
@CurtisDaly_@NoJusticeMTG supply and demand is hard science. its a mathematical result. other econ is soft science, but they're not necessarily wrong. the foundation is solid.
@CurtisDaly_@monke_io those are the laws of economics that exist because economics is a science. what do you hope to achieve making tautological and semantic disagreements? criticize free market dorks all you want but arguing over the definitions of words just makes you look like a moron
@nestapendragon there was recent discourse about rendering halo graphics and how more detail reduced the mystery. it deflated the abstraction. same idea to me.
@nestapendragon Mystery and imagination plays a huge role in visual media. Our brains identify and personify characters immediately. I already know everything about iron man. A card is as meaningful as a sticker or pin. This was a new character that only existed as a card.
@ArchonCrow its someone's job at WOTC to design those big ass spells and I swear 2/3rds of them haven't been cast before lol. kinda sad they're sent straight to the bulk bins
@internet_hottie damn, I do have the time and energy for this bullshit. one of my favorite activities. I'll stop being mean though, I'm sure you mean well
