50 years old here. Age and experience have made me stop ego-lifting. These days, a proper warm-up and strict form are key. Then I do the major compound lifts: including squats and deadlifts. I will change programs every 10-12 weeks and start at a low weight for the first couple of weeks, concentrating on form. The gentle progressive weight increases. In this context, great lifts and very time-efficient.

I know the unmitigated disaster that a period of prolonged house prices have produced. Centering a whole economy and the credit creation of a country on inflating peoples shelter instead of productive businesses has destroyed the social contract and led to said stagnation and unrest.
