@howie_hua I'm planning something similar, but without words; only using images to describe themselves. We haven't started yet. I hope it goes as well for our class as it has for yours.
@susanresnickco1 @robertkaplinsky I don't see anything in this article about counting calories being unhealthy or detrimental to the child. It talks more about not counting calories, "Parents need to be responsible and ensure that their kids are getting regular nutrition, that they are moving but not compulsive”
@susanresnickco1 @robertkaplinsky Thanks for letting me know what you meant. Isn't SEL connected to teaching healthy eating habits: https://t.co/mgwdK38iXj? Also, what about teaching students about these things for future careers in nutrition or physical well-being?
I just organized a math conference. Wow. My efforts weren’t perfect, but I’m learning. Thank you so much to all the presenters, those who amplified the conference, those who attended, and everyone who helped in any way. #virtualmath21
Hot off the press! The EMERALDS (Exploring Math Education Relationships by Analyzing Large Data Sets) study examined the math concepts in early grades that set up students for success in algebra later. Find both an "in-brief" and "full" report here: https://t.co/kWLinlCahd
In this free asynchronous course, teachers learn how to build equitable systems of math instruction. The course is 12 hours and provides the option to earn credit-bearing certificates. The course opens on July 20th: https://t.co/0jPYNwNwGj #mathchat#PD#edequity
Check out our almost-finalized schedule for the Virtual Math Conference July 10-11 #VirtualMath21. Thank you to all the presenters for sharing with us for free. https://t.co/fgLxoRW9j6

@howie_hua Add a question to the end and this could become a math problem 😜. All joking aside, I hope the followers you lost, get replaced by a more supportive fanbase. Keep up the great math work and the normalizing our culture work! 💜🌈💜
This tweet matches my thoughts on life skills, not just formal education. Provide them structure upfront, then lessen the support. Teach resilience through natural consequences.
A high quality education must teach students how to be self-regulated learners. Without it, students become highly reliant on overly structured learning environments to grow academically. That ultimately leads to them being blind-sided when those structures disappear.
