@TimoKoskela6@TimmerFidelity There are reasons why something has economic value and why something is sound money. Like others have mentioned here, there are many books and economists that go in depth into why bitcoin has value. TLDR Bitcoin is the best money that has ever existed. Fidelity just see the value
@fabiopedrosa@Austen And from the companies that are asking for it, they are just trying to get liabilities out of their shoulders. So they rather handshake with government figures that will go with the play than seeing themselves in legal trouble
@fabiopedrosa@Austen And none of this is taking into account that the whole premise is based on out of proportion fear mongering.
These people are just trying to seize the opportunity to grab power over the most important tech being developed.
@brianbobc@Dan_Jeffries1@MeidasTouch A free market (pure capitalism) only works if natural and property rights are respected and if there’s a way to protect them, meaning law and order. People always believe the oxymoronic and inconsistent idea that free markets can only work with coercion or they lead to violence
@GeorgeSelgin@lawrencehwhite1 I was more referring to the Custodia Bank being denied a master account by the FED even when it was statutorily eligible, but the FED has discretionary powers to just say no. (https://t.co/HbJ863tFDm)
I regret the way I said/generalized that though
@lawrencehwhite1@GeorgeSelgin I find outrageous that there is not even an option to operate a bank without fractional reserve that just store the money with a storage fee (whatever money you decide to store). Easily using money for payments shouldn’t have to be separated from saving/storing it
@GeorgeSelgin I appreciate your response and you are right on the positive law. The deeper issue remains: that legal classification still permits multiple incompatible claims on the same scarce money while depositors treat the balance as continuously available cash.

@danielbelfort@nbalba “I dont like the idea so it must be bad!”
It’s a great idea and far more likely that people read old and long stuff like this than on the phone. Also pretty neat to have a magazine/book experience with the stuff you saved
@ozsats256@Bitkey It’s hard to find something that I agree 100% with. Great post. Ive been thinking these days it would be neat to write the EEK for the PassportPrime from @FoundationHQ. Im also on iOS and I dont have any android around, and not being able to have instant access to 2 keys is baaad
@clay_garrett@ErinEMalone One concern I have about the Emergency Exit Kit is that I need an android device with NFC to use it. What other options could be built there so that I could use it either with my laptop or other device with NFC?
